SREE Fall 2011 Presentation: Impact of Indiana’s Diagnostic Assessment Tools on Mathematics Achievement

This PowerPoint presentation, prepared for the Fall 2011 Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness conference, accompanies the research paper, The Impact of Indiana’s System of Benchmark Assessments on Mathematics Achievement. The objectives of the study described include the following.

  • Examine the effectiveness of benchmark/data-driven assessments on mathematics achievement in public schools in Indiana.
  • Test the hypothesis that teachers with access to data to monitor student progress and to guide their choices about instruction will produce students who perform higher on state assessments.
  • Determine gains in student performance on the annual Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress–Plus (ISTEP+) measure.
