Massachusetts Early College and Innovation Career Pathways: Pathway Partnership Reviews

The Early College (EC) and Innovation Career Pathways (ICP) programs in Massachusetts aim to increase opportunities for all students to be college and career ready. Each year, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) designates high school EC and ICP programs aligned with a set of guiding principles focused on empowering students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

AIR is conducting Pathway Partnership Reviews (PPR) of designated EC and ICP programs that are halfway through their five-year contracts with DESE. These reviews provide formative feedback in support of schools’ efforts to implement high-quality programs.

As part of its review to determine alignment with the guiding principles, AIR collects data from:

  • Interviews,
  • Focus groups,
  • Instructional staff survey, and
  • Existing program documents.

The intent of the review is to recognize the school or district’s progress in meeting the guiding principles and identify areas to improve and strengthen.
