Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics

The Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics, a working group of 23 federal agencies, provides information to the public and policy-makers on the well-being of America’s children. The mission of the forum is to foster coordination and collaboration and to enhance and improve consistency in the collection and reporting of Federal data on children and families. The forum also aims to improve the reporting and dissemination of information on the status of children and families. Since 2008, AIR has supported the forum to advance knowledge about children’s family and social environment, economic circumstances, health care, physical environment and safety, behavior, education, and health.

AIR supports the forum in achieving its mission to expand access to information on this population by coordinating with each of the forum member agencies to produce the forum’s flagship annual report, America’s Children: Key National Indicators of Well-being). In this role, the AIR team interacts and communicates with representatives from forum agencies to gather the appropriate data and text for the report; provides substantive, editorial, and data-related reviews; coordinates and monitors the quality control process; coordinates the flow of information among the agencies and each stage of the review processes, including receiving, organizing, and implementing reviewer comments; professionally edits and desktops the editions of the report; and coordinates the social media campaign for the release of the report.
