American Institutes for Research and Education Week Co-Host a Forum on Teacher Quality

Washington, D.C. – Education Week and the American Institutes for Research (AIR) co-sponsored a forum on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 entitled “Searching for Solutions: An Evidence-Based Dialogue on Teacher Quality.” Panelists included Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools, leading education researchers and senior staff members of the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Education and Labor.

Lynn Olson of Education Week served as the moderator of the discussion. Panelists were:

  • Dan Goldhaber, University of Washington
  • Susan Moore Johnson, Harvard University

  • Brad Thomas, Professional Staff Member, Committee on Education and Labor

The forum was held at AIR’s corporate headquarters at 1000 Thomas Jefferson Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20007. In the coming weeks, both organizations will post resources and a video from the event on their Websites.
